Groups of six, three to five days, no fixed pace. We go where the rock is interesting and the water is predictable.
Up the old stock track, two nights on the rim, down through the side canyon. Good first route — the ground is forgiving and you are never more than half a day from the road.
Twelve kilometres of it are between walls close enough to touch on both sides. Never run in the week after rain, and we will call it off late if we have to.
The long one. Water at three points and nothing in between, so the carry is heavy for the first day and sensible after that.
Spring and late autumn. Summer is not a question of toughness — the rock holds heat through the night and nobody sleeps. Winter is beautiful and the short days make everything slower than it looks on the map.
Boots you have already argued with, three litres of capacity, a hat with a brim, and a jacket even in warm weeks. We carry the shelter, the stove and the first aid; you carry your own clothes, sleeping bag and water.
No experience required for the first two routes. For Three springs we ask that you have done a multi-day walk before, anywhere.
